When my client came to me for a 60th birthday cake for her husband, she wanted it to reflect the things he loves most: his boat (named for his wife) and his three dogs. So, after sending me many photos of the boat, her husband, and the dogs, I was able to create fondant figures of the pups and the birthday boy, all perched on a cake replica of his beloved boat. And, since the birthday boy is a diabetic and couldn't actually eat his chocolate boat cake, I make him The a sugar-free yellow cake with sugar-free vanilla buttercream frosting and sugar-free cherry pie filling. It features pearl “bubbles” and orange fish to go with the boat cake theme. I am happy to report that my client and her husband loved both cakes!
