My First Wedding

I was so honored (and nervous!) to be asked to make a wedding cake and cupcakes for a friend's wedding. The bride loves dinosaurs, and asked me to design the cake around her adorable T-rex bride-and-groom cake topper. I decided to go fairly traditional with the design, keeping the cake simple and just adding some purple gum paste flowers at the base. (Purple was the color of the bridesmaids' dresses.) The cake was vanilla, filled with banana pudding and sliced fresh bananas, with buttercream frosting.

For the guests, I made two types of cupcakes: chocolate with buttercream and red velvet with cheesecake frosting. Both types were topped with homemade dinosaur chocolates in purple with teal accents.

I was so happy to hear from the bride that it was the cake of her dreams, and that everyone enjoyed the treats!
