My family recently got together with my godmother and her family to celebrate my birthday and my "cousin's" high school graduation. Not surprisingly, I decided to bake for the occasion, and this time, I wanted to try something a little different.
While I baked a traditional chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, I included a little surprise inside: a large handful of colorful sprinkles and candies designed to pour out once the cake was cut! For a little hint of what was to come, I used the same sprinkle mix (thanks, Neon Yolk!) on top of the cake, along with some playful swirls of buttercream. I went with blue and yellow stripes of frosting on the sides since I like that color combination (it reminds me of summer).
Everyone enjoyed the big reveal, as well as the cake itself, so I think it was a success! I hope to be able to make another one of these cakes for a client in the future!
