For this Rolling Stones fan's 60th birthday, I was asked to make a guitar-shaped cake that looks like his favorite rock-n-roller's guitar (see the last photo in the gallery). This was a last-minute request, and I had less than 24 hours to put it together, so I think it came out pretty good considering I didn't have the time to make all the intricate details!
The cake is red velvet with vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant that I painted with edible food coloring to look like the woodgrain in the picture I was given. Since including the Rolling Stones' iconic logo was another request, I painted it (again, with edible food coloring) on white fondant and added it to the guitar as if it was a sticker that had been placed on the instrument. The strings are royal icing, as is the birthday message. I was told I "hit it out of the park," so I think he's happy! Rock & Roll!
